The Clemens Classroom is in Session
I'm Dawn Clemens; high school social studies teacher since 2000. Throughout my career I have focused on trying to reach all of my students. This is especially important since I teach in a high needs district and my course load includes inclusion classes. It's not always been easy and I have used a multitude of different methods. The things that I have focused most of my attention on have involved student engagement and instructional technology. This year I'm teaching US History and Government Inclusion and Advanced Placement US History.
Currently, my focus is on implementing student centered activities which place an emphasis on analysis and critical thinking. I enjoy using instructional technology and trying new things! The purpose of this blog is to share my adventures in learning and teaching with a sprinkling of my opinions here and there.
Outside of the classroom, I have been a class, club, and student council adviser. I ended my term as the Vice President of my local teachers union and as the editor of our newsletter, Between Assignments several years ago.
